Natural hair appears to be the new thing. Everyone has been opting to go natural lately after realizing how much healthier their hair can be without all the heat and chemicals. But getting your hair back to its healthy state takes more than just not using a few products. Here are some tips for all you naturalistas.
Keep your hair moisturized. Our hair is naturally dry which means we have to do that much more to keep it moisturized. The best way to do that is by using water. Yes, water. It is a natural moisturizer. However, after applying water to your hair, you should use an OIL based sealant. You can use argan oil, avocado oil, or coconut oil. The choice is yours.
Seal your ends. Make sure you seal your ends with an oil after applying daily products. Your ends need extra attention to prevent breakage.
Don’t towel dry. Towels absorb all the moisture from our hair. Towels also cause friction, which results in knots and split ends. Instead, you should use an old cotton shirt. It is less damaging to your hair and it will prevent frizz.
Use cold water when rinsing. When you do a final rinse after washing your hair, you should use cool or cold water. Hot water will make your hair appear dull and lifeless. A cold rinse helps to seal in the conditioner and give your hair a healthier shine.
Comb through not comb out. When detangling your hair there is a right way and a wrong way. DO NOT COMB YOUR HAIR WHEN IT IS DRY. It will cause damage. You should work on your hair while it is still wet. Separate the hair into sections and comb from ends to roots.
Your hair requires a lot of TLC (tender, love, and care) if you want to grow out that TWA (teeny weeny afro). Follow these tips and your hair will be better than ever. Also stay tuned for some great protective styles.
